What “Continuous Quality Improvement” (CQI) means for you? I used to train health professionals in quality improvement method. When I began those training, I ask this simple question: What is quality improvement definition? What does that mean for you? Analyzing the vast array of answers provided is fascinating. The world quality improvement can mean so many different things in the health sector according to the people you ask the question: Doctors, in most cases, focus on the technical aspect; the patients usually on individual and interpersonal relation issue; managers on cost control and efficiency. Let’s describe our vision of quality improvement briefly so we can be on the same page. In this blog, the term quality means to improve process and system. The continuous quality Improvement methodology focuses on systems’ amelioration, measurement, problem prevention, excellence, and people satisfaction. As our life is processes and systems, continuous quality improvement method is appropriate to improve our quality of life.
